Medifast is a great weight loss tool. If you stick to the diet, you will lose weight. Some people will lose weight very quickly (my husband), and some will be slower (me). But if you’re serious about it, you’ll take off the pounds.
The Medifast plan is to eat five pre-packaged meals a day, plus a “Lean and Green” meal. (Mine is usually a chicken salad – with lettuce.) I actually look forward to eating some of their products. There are others I absolutely can’t stand! What is funny is that the ones I don’t like seem to be popular with other folks.
Since I’m diabetic, I have to be careful – even with Medifast products. I read the labels before I order anything to be sure there’s not too much sugar. But Medifast makes it easy with several flavors of diabetic shakes. These have 10 grams of carbohydrates and 4 to 5 grams of sugar.
My favorite diet shake is strawberry. I also like the vanilla flavor, either just by itself or with added flavorings. You can mix in Torani or DaVinci syrups. I especially enjoy Da Vinci’s sugar free Cookie Dough and Torani’s sugar free Black Cherry syrups. A serving size is about 2 tablespoons. Either of these flavors are good in the strawberry Medifast shake, too. There are lots of different flavors of these syrups. I don’t like the chocolate diet shake, but I know that other people do.
Don’t laugh at this – the one and only thing that’s annoying about the strawberry shake is that several times I’ve spilled it on one of my good dress suits and it won’t come out! Even my drycleaner had a problem with it. See, to make the shake you have to fill this shaker jar with 6 to 8 ounces of water and the powdered shake packet, then shake 20 times. When you open the lid, sometimes a drop will jump out. Occasionally the lids can be hard to open, particularly if you have arthritis. They do have shakers with screw-on lids, though.
For people who aren’t diabetes, Medifast makes some fantastic flavors of shakes. My husband is not diabetic, so his Medifast order is different from mine. I admit that I’ve tried some of his shake flavors. The orange cream shake is yummy, but the cherry pomegranate shake is to die for! It even has antioxidants. There are a number of other great flavors, too: Dutch chocolate, French vanilla (an international crowd here), mocha, banana, and dark chocolate. Here’s my tip for a change: you can freeze them and pretend they’re ice cream.
Medifast also makes ready-to-drink shakes. These are ready to go right out of the package – you don’t have to mix them with water. These heart-healthy and lactose-free shakes are great for people on the move. At only 90 calories per serving, the fact that they are portable means you can drink while you drive and not get pulled over! (I probably should drink one of these on the days I am wearing a suit…) Currently these come in dark chocolate, French vanilla, and mocha flavors.
In addition to shakes, Medifast makes a line of drinks (no alcohol, sorry!). These are counted as one of your five daily selections. The flavors include hot cocoa, cappuccino, chai latte, and a coffee soft serve (also available in a Café Coolers Package).
They offer a line of cold drinks: Cranberry Mango Fruit Drink, Orange Blend Drink, Peach Iced Tea, Raspberry Iced Tea. There are even a couple of infusers (flavoring added to water that provides antioxidants) in five or so flavors.
